My payment failed — was I charged?

Last updated: 2026-08-20

When a payment fails, no charge is taken. Some banks do place a temporary authorisation hold on the amount. That is not a charge and it is normally released automatically within a few business days, according to your bank's rules.

Common reasons a payment fails

  • The 3D Secure step was not completed, or the code timed out
  • The card is not enabled for online or international purchases
  • Insufficient limit, or the bank flagged the transaction as risky
  • Card number, expiry date or CVC entered incorrectly

What to do

  1. Check order tracking or your orders to see whether an order was actually created.
  2. If no order exists, you can safely try again with the same cart.
  3. If it keeps failing, try a different card, or ask your bank whether international e-commerce is enabled on that card.

If you see a charge but no order, email [email protected] with a screenshot; we will check the payment institution's records and get back to you.
